
Salt Lake County Home Prices Second Quarter 2008
For the first time in a long time there were more zip codes that went down in value than went up. The second quarter 2008 saw single family homes in 23 zip codes in Salt Lake County go down in value and just 7 zip codes increase in value. The condo market was far more balanced with 12 zip codes going down in value and 11 going up in value.
The bright spot in the Salt Lake real estate market were downtown condos. Condos in zip code 84101 returned an increase of 18.85%. This increase has been driven by the ongoing redevelopment of the downtown area, including the downtown rising project. Increased gas prices are also driving a trend for people wanting to live closer to work and closer to the public transport network.
