Salt Lake County Home Prices First Quarter 2008

Homes price appreciation slowed to almost a stop in the first quarter 2008. The number of homes sold fell by more than 41%, and the amount of time it took to sell a home rose to 58 days (a 45% increase). Even with these figures the Salt Lake County median single family home price still rose by 0.34%, while the median condo price fell by just 0.65%.

At the moment there is a housing stalemate, with sellers refusing to lower their listing price unless they absolutely need to sell. While buyers are discouraged by the national real estate market, and are also finding it harder to obtain a loan because of the new stricter lending requirements.
