
Salt Lake County Home Prices For the Third Quarter 2011
There were a total of 6 zip codes in Salt Lake County that saw their median single family home price increase in the third quarter 2011. The best performing areas were Salt Lake City 84103 up 17.24%, and South Salt Lake 84115 up 8.14%. The areas seeing the biggest falls were Salt Lake City 84104 down 35.52%, Draper 84020 down 28.14%, and Holladay 84124 down 24.67%.
When we look at condos, only a single zip code saw a price increase, with Salt Lake City 84101 (the downtown area) increasing 2.67%. In fact because of the low number of sales, only 8 zip codes had enough sales in order to provide reasonable data (price change data is not provided for zip codes with fewer than 10 sales). The worst performing area was Cottonwood 84121 which went down 40%.
If we look at all of Salt Lake County, the median home price for a single family home was $196,000, a fall of 14.78% year on year. For a condo the price was $129,950 a fall of 16.16%. One bright note was the number of homes sold, which was up over 35% for single family homes, and over 37% for condos. Another positive sign was the average days on market (amount of time taken to sell a home) which fell from 77 in Q3 2010 to 68 in Q3 2011.
