
Salt Lake County Home Prices For the 4th Quarter 2011
The median home price for Salt Lake County in the 4th quarter 2011 was $193,000 for single family homes (down 10.23%) and $134,900 for condos (down 6.5%). While prices were down the number of homes sold continued to show positive signs, with 2328 single family homes sold, a rise of nearly 20% over the same period last year. The number of days it takes to sell a home is also heading in the right direction, dropping from 88 to 73 days.
Salt Lake County saw single family home median price increases in 5 of its zip codes in the 4th quarter 2011. These were 84070 (Sandy) up 1.4%, 84102 (Salt Lake City's Central City area) up 22.12%, 84108 (Salt Lake City Emigration Canyon) up 3.17%, 84116 (Salt Lake City) up 3.07, and 84121 (Cottonwood) up 16.20%. Of the areas that fell in price the worst performing were 84103 (Salt Lake City Avenues) down 19.22%, 84104 (Salt Lake City Glendale) down 19.34% and 84119 (West Valley City) down 16.56%.
The condo market did not fare any better with just 3 zip codes seeing price increases. These were 84106 (Salt Lake City) up 2.71%, 84111 (Salt Lake City) up 13.60% and 84117 (Holladay) up 1.14%. The areas experiencing the biggest decline were 84107 (Murray) down 55.81% and 84119 (West Valley City) down 35%.
