Taylorsville City

Taylorsville City is located smack in the middle of the Salt Lake Valley and is covered by zip codes 84129 / 84123 (which is shared by Murray). It is surrounded by West Valley City to the north, Kearns to the West, West Jordan to the South and Murray to the east. In 1996 the area was incorporated, from the Taylorsville/Bennion and parts of Kearns CDP areas.

The area remained mainly agricultural until the 1970's when the sprawl of Salt Lake extended to its boundaries, and the farmers found out that they could get more money selling to developers than they could get from farming. The increasing population / housing demands from Salt Lake County led to rapid growth into the 1990's which ultimately led to the city being created. Local residents wanted more of a say how the area was developed so pushed for it to in incorporated into its own city. In 2012 the west part of Taylorsville was given its own zip code 84129.

For more information on the city you can visit the Taylorsville City government website.
