Kearns City

Kearns is a metro township located on the west side of the Salt Lake Valley. West Valley City is located to the north, Taylorsville to the east and West Jordan to the south, all of with which it shares the 84118 zip-code.

Kearns came into being in 1942 when a WWII air force training base was constructed. In 1946 the base was deactivated by the air force, and today the site is home to the South Valley Regional Airport.

The roads and infrastructure built for the base made it an attractive location for developers and soon subdivisions took the place of farmland. Today it is home to more than 35,000 people.

Kearns is home to the Utah Olympic Oval and Speed Skating Oval which were constructed for the 2002 Olympic Games.
